| David Hyrenbach, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of oceanography at the Hawai'i Pacific University. His expertise includes spatial ecology, the design and effectiveness of marine protected areas, and seabird foraging ecology. Dr. Hyrenbach’s Pew Fellowship project is designed to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of establishing protected areas for highly-mobile marine vertebrates, such as birds, mammals and turtles, in the Alborán Sea of the Western Mediterranean. The project also seeks to establish a framework for developing conservation measures in other areas of the Mediterranean Sea. |
